More Forties Style Icons
So as you all should know by now, 'A 1940's Knee's Up' has a dress code.
Just to give you a few tips on women's style in that decade, Ava Gardner and Katharine Hepburn epitomized the classic and timeless look that the forties are known for.

Key 1940s pieces for Ladies:
- Straight, knee length skirt
- Smart jacket with padded shoulders and a tapered waist
- Low-heeled canvas shoes. Leather was being rationed so canvas shoes were popular.
- A veiled hat
- White gloves
- An alligator handbag
Look at 1940s film clips and vintage clothing online to give you an idea of fashion in the forties. Try eBay or local charity shops for a bargain.

Forties Inspiration...
Our vision for 'A 1940s Knees Up!' is a post-war celebration; decade inspired decor, live music from a range of genres, cocktails served in mis-matched tea sets and a lively yet chilled out atmosphere.
How quaint!
Boys get practicing your smooth moves ;)
WWII Icon - Rosie the Riveter
Rosie the Riveter is a cultural icon of America, representing the women who worked in factories during the World War to produce munitions and war supplies.
All the day long,
Whether rain or shine
She’s part of the assembly line.
She’s making history,
Working for victory

Stage Two: Venue confirmed!
We are very pleased to announce that the confirmed venue for our event 'A 1940s Knees Up!' is the Yardbird jazz club in Birmingham city centre.
We love the venue and this sums it up perfectly:
''Our concept is simple...we want to provide a funky and intimate place where people can hang out, watch bands and dj's play, have a dance, have a bite to eat, and just generally feel enveloped in a warm and wonderful atmosphere. There isn't any dresscode, grumpy bouncers or even an ounce of pretension...just friendly faces, quality music, food and drink at very reasonable prices.'' Ollie Lloyd (Owner/Promoter)

The event will run from noon til midnight. We have exciting plans for vintage stalls and live performances.
More details soon :)

Hello Internet!
Hello from weheartevents HQ!
Our newly established event management venture kicks off with a collaboration with iconic, global charity, the British Red Cross.
So everything we raise, whether it's a donation of 10p or £10 or even £1000 (fingers, toes and everything else crossed!) will go somewhere to making a postive impact on someones life.

£1 could pay for six months’ counselling for a child affected by conflict in Sierra Leone
£5 could buy two foil blankets for evacuees affected by fire or flooding in the UK
£10 could provide 3,750 litres of clean drinking water in Pakistan
£20 could train two people to save lives in an emergency in the UK or abroad
So everything we raise, whether it's a donation of 10p or £10 or even £1000 (fingers, toes and everything else crossed!) will go somewhere to making a postive impact on someones life.
In the past week all 9 of us at weheartevents have been knuckling down to serious discussions with ideas on locations, themes, entertainment and everything else flying everywhere!
